Well it's been a good 6 months since my last update so I'm dropping in. I honestly am still waffling on whether to stick around here or not, I don't really have a better alternative but it's also just kind of stiflingly quiet (or on the odd occasion plain old rude) here lately so I don't really get much out of updating. I've also been practicing a lot more than Serious Finished Drawings so if you want more regular updates from me you might as well find me on tumblr
. Computer's fixed, more or less, I've just been having trouble sitting down and really enjoying working on something. It's been a few months so I'm still trying to re-teach myself how to do digital art again in a method that makes sense to me, and I'm still considering upgrading my program.
I'm wrapping up work on my Master's thesis which is taking up most of my time, and I just got accepted to Toronto so I'll be starting school there in September. Kinda worried about heading east, kinda scared to live in a Real Big City, kinda bittersweet and really sad generally about leaving my home and all the songs coming up about outmigration all the time aren't helping. Hoping politics here will stay kind of stable but hell I'm in Alberta. (The BC election is Driving me Nuts right now too, why is FPTP like this)
Re: my biggest project, Dominion Day, the video is On Schedule and aside from tightening up some things here and there it is just about ready to go for the July 1st/Canada 150th deadline. I was very happy to work with so many talented people on this out of our own collective time and energy - for free, mind you! - and I hope people enjoy it. As I've said time and time again, I'll be stepping down from the project after posting it, but I'll be around for lame drawings and comics and if there's any attention to bring or questions to answer about my lil corners of the world, I'm always available. I've been in these projects for almost a decade now and I've learned a lot and met a lot of fantastic people and I'm not about to let it all go overnight, but I'll be going at my own pace as I've said. I've had a lot of problems and disenchantment circling me over this and my laughable sense of patriotism, but on the other hand I do really love this country and I love meeting and talking to people who are interested. Kinda sad I never got to write a 'sequel' introduction to Western Canada, which is more my specialty, but who knows. We may see that in comic form in the future. Oh, I currently have a call for fan art due one week from today
out so if you want to be featured in the end credits, check that out.
As usual, thanks for watching, and you guys are welcome to give me a shout or drop me a line any time if you have questions or things you wanna talk about.
