Ever since Destroy All Humans- and even before that with Pleasantville, I've always had a mysterious obsession with the 1950s. Always.
It has to do with aliens, bright colours, picket fences, outer space, communism, paranoia, and the best propaganda commercials ever I think. It's not a time I'd want to live in, but it will forever fascinate me.
I'm finding the 60s a little more interesting as well as the 20s and probably the 30s soon as well since I'm reading Grapes of Wrath... XD The 40s are also becoming quite... prominent, I suppose, to me. It has a lot to do with the literature I've been reading in English (and outside of English). Hetalia too. Hetalia sort of fleshes out country's relations so it's easier to figure out what exactly was going on. XD
I like getting overall impressions of decades, I dunno. It reminds me how fast change happens...
Oh, and I also like the 90s because I lived through them. Anything you grow up in is ten times better than the next generation's crap, right? XD OUR MUSIC WAS DECENT AND OUR CARTOONS WERE TOO. WE WERE COOL.
No srsly I will forever look fondly on the 90s despite the fact that I wasn't really 'aware' so to speak.

Cliche: Only the most cliched story ever.
But I also like the 90s, because all the really good cartoons were on back then. I wouldn't even piss on the crap they have showing now.

I like the glam rock of the 70's like Sweet, and I also like the funky disco sounds too! And all the rock and punk generation really kicked off with The Sex Pistols, Iggy and The Stooges, The Buzzcocks and Joy Division!
I loved the synth-pop in the 80's like New Order, who rose from the ashes of Joy Division, and Tears For Fears and The Cure to name but a few.
And the 90's paved the way for many of my favourite bands of now like Radiohead, Weezer and The Stereophonics. And those bands that are sadly no longer around like Blur and to a lesser extent Oasis. And right near the end of that decade, Muse suddenly appeared majestically on the horizon with a modest debut album. Who knew what they were going to become?
As for the decade that's about to pass us by, we've seen a resurgence of pretty much every type of music! The Strokes came by with their 70's garage band sound and blew the mainstream away, with The Hives and so many other following suit. Kings of Leon came along, started pretty small with some amazing records and then took over the world with some admittedly less than amazing records. The Faint popped up with some dirty sounding electro magic, and some other bands snuck into the party behind them. Bright Eyes, who have of course been around since the creation of the earth, became one of the biggest alt-indie-folk-country bands ever.
Phew, that's quite a comment and I'm going to leave it there for now! I'm sure in another 10 years time I'll write the same thing, only with next decade's music thrown in too!

IM NOT SHORT....you are all just GIANTS
Usually it does have a lot to do with the music when I ask people- I don't usually like listening to the radio these days because either I can't stand it or I hear the same things over and over again. XD I enjoy downloading things from the past (Even though 90% of the music on my computer is Y2K+)
I'm the sort of person who grew up on everything my parents listened to so I got this weird mix of older songs, contemporary songs, and the occasional francophone song. XD Even though none of us speak French well. XDD
The more I listen to music in general the more I like it. I have to be able to attach an experience or a feeling with a song in order to REALLY like it. No matter the decade, if I can make a connection to it I will like it.
I especially like songs in other languages (ex. 99 Luft Ballons) because they help me learn and they sound more natural if they've since then been translated to English.

WE ARE SO GROOVY.
Yep yep- the 90s were good. And pretty soon the cartoons are going to be being made by 90s kids, so hopefully they'll improve.

The 90s were happy times. *nod nod* And then there are movies like Pleasantville and the Matrix that take place in the 90s (Well... sort of. XD) and make me all nostalgic and what not.
And the 70s... that means Star Wars! Of course! *facepalm* why didn't I think of that earlier!
