Ancient Egyptians

Alrighty. :D It's been a while since I drew these guys. Look at how much they've evolved since I first drew them...

From left to right: Akhetaten, Thebes, Egypt, Memphis, Alexandria.

So yep all my Egyptian personifications in a sort of family portrait. XD
Family was extremely important to the Egyptians, so I think Egypt is glad to be surrounded by her family like this... although she has her favourites. XD

I'll talk a little about each of them just to introduce them or at least refresh your memories. >w<

Akhetaten The city built under Akhenaten's rule when he decided the old gods were crap and everyone should just worship the sun. He was never finished, so he basically stayed as a child... until the priesthoods essentially beat him to death. XD;;
Egypt doesn't particularly like him and prefers to forget that he exists since he's a reminder of her hippie college years the Amarna Period. XD;

Thebes - Nwt Imn Probably Egypt's richest city- all of the money from Egypt's vassals came through Thebes. Because Thebes sort of includes the temple complex Karnak, he is also the religious centre of Egypt. Here, I've dressed him as a priest. One of his Egyptian names means "City of Amon", so the Greeks and Romans called him "Diospolis", "City of Zeus". He was temporarily the capital of Egypt and has occasionally tried to siphon political power from Memphis, but generally they seem to get along...

Egypt - Kemet Super serious, super stoic, and appreciates balance and harmony more than anything. She actually does have a fun and lively side, but politically it's invisible. Especially if you're a foreigner. She is deeply religious and ascribes heavily to rules and tradition and rarely deviates from her path. Egypt usually has absolutely no hair on her body aside from her wig. She adores cats and babies.

Memphis - Men Nefer He is roughly the same age as Egypt, having been established as the new capital after Egypt's unification. Because they grew up together, he and Egypt are very close. Being both the administrative capital as well as a centre of craftsmanship, he straddles a few social classes: farmer, artisan, warrior, and scribe. Under his wig is very short hair groomed to resemble the skull cap of his patron god, Ptah. He is generally quite no-nonsense and is difficult to read, especially when it comes to nosy Greeks asking him about the pyramids.

Alexandria Not quite an outcast but not quite family either, Alexandria was a port city thrust upon Egypt by Alexander the Great. As a result, Alexandria is much closer to Greece than she is to Egypt, but is in general a cultural melting pot. She enjoys a Greek thirst for new knowledge and an Egyptian status for women. Her idol, of course, is her namesake Alexander, although she really only met him once when she was very small and never saw him again until after he died. She became the intellectual and cultural centre of the Ancient world after Athens, but much of her knowledge was lost in the great fire. Out of all of the Ptolemies, the one she got along best with was Cleopatra VII... until of course she caused the downfall of Egypt.

Alright, phew, that's enough typing for now. Enjoy!

I wonder what group I should do next...
